Whenever I come across a quality product like the BB Tools Clasic Cutter I really try to campaign it. I plan on taking my cutter to several of the annual fly-ins I attend each year along with a supply of junk wire. I’ve found the old saying “seeing is believing” works best.

Thanks for such a great tool. I purchased the Classic Cutter – 002. It arrived fast and in good shape, and I could not wait to try it out.

It works great and is everything you said it was, no more putting the cutter wheel into the Dremel.

Thanks again, and keep up the good work

just a quick note to let you know that the tool arrived a few days ago. Thanks for the quick delivery! I put the cutter to work as soon as it arrived trimming a few control rods. The cutter works just as advertised. The cuts are crisp, clean and easy.

Buying the cutter was money well spent. Thanks

Just thought you might like some feedback on one of your products. I received your 3/32″ Classic Cutter for Christmas, and have already cut about 300 pieces of 1/16″ braided steel cable for the kits I produce for my company, BTE. The last piece of cable cut as clean and true as the first. It works great for music wire too, the cut is clean and flat without the sharp burrs you get from diagonal cutters.

All in all, a first rate product!

Thank you for making it available to modelers everywhere!

I used it to swag 27 cables while building a cable deck railing. For the most part it worked great. Toward the end I could tell that even the hardened steel of the threads was starting to wear. With a little grease it continued to work. Because I swagged each cable end twice it was good for 27 X 4 =~120 uses (with a few mistakes, my fault). Good product for the price and small enough to fit into tighter spots. I highly recommend using a ratcheting box-end wrench.

I have used this crimping to for over 50 3/32″ sleeve crimps. I have not had a single failure of a crimp. It is not fool proof, you must use a little common sense when torqueing down the bolts. Make sure you keep the bolts lubricated, I use a moly grease. The only issue I have had with the tool is keeping tension on the wire rope while torqueing the bolts. It is easier if you use a bench vice to hold the lower die. I lock a pair of vice grips on the cut end of the wire rope while holding tension on the long end. This method allows me to maintain tension on the wire rope while crimping the sleeve. It takes surprisingly little effort to torque the bolts. I would say less than 25 ft/lbs of torque.

If you don’t want to spend the big bucks on the pliers type version by various other manufacturer’s, this is a very reasonable alternative that does the job very nicely, though it takes about 10 minutes to do each swag

So I was comparing this swaging tool with another similar tool on Amazon. Both look very much to be the same. However, this one is more expensive. Why? Well this one comes with grade 8 bolts to tighten down so they don’t shear off. This one also is using standard gauge bolts (not metric) and is pre-lubed. I didn’t want to fuss with changing the bolts out and lubing it.

First, you’ll want to put the lower part of the tool into a vise. If you don’t, it’s going to be tough to hold the tool, cable and sleeve to tighten the bolts down. Then you’ll want to use a breaker bar and an impact socket to tighten down the bolts as it makes it so much easier. I was able to swage 1/4″ sleeves (3 times each) in about 10 minutes (pretty quick).

The real reason you are getting this tool instead of a full blown swaging hand tool is cost. Those large hand tools are hundreds of dollars….and not necessary unless you are doing a bunch of swaging…which I wasn’t.

The seems to be well made. However it arrived late by three days. Not sure why we are paying for Amazon Prime. Also on the website this tool is advertised as 1/8″, 5/32″, 3/16″, 1/4″ which is what we needed…1/4″. When it arrived late the Amazon packaging label stated the same thing, the packaging sticker on the exterior pf plastic bag stated the same thing…However the instructions inside the plastic bag clearly state 1/8″, 3/32″ & 1/8″ as well it is stamped right on the tool. Frustrating.
1/10/13: So after being contacted BBTools, Inc. after my first review, they encouraged me to return the incorrect tool and reorder as they really do have the 4 hole tool. I did and again Amazon got it wrong! So on the second go around BBTools, Inc. again contacted me to see if we received the correct tool. I let them know we did not get the correct tool. This time they told me to purchase the tool through Amazon, but make sure that BBTools, Inc. was the fulfillment was them. The tool cast a few bucks less and then paid for shipping…Which BBTools, Inc. was kind enough to overnight to me for no extra charge. The tool arrived and it was the correct, Plus it worked wonderfully for us! Not only was the tool what we wanted Quality, but the customer service from BBTools, Inc. was exceptional! Thank you BBTools, Inc. for really standing behind your product.

I received my BBTools cutting tool today, and headed straight for the shop looking for a piece of 4-40 wire. Man, does this thing ever cut!!
My main concern was the accuracy of the tool. The Classic Cutter is dead on. If you place a mark on a piece of wire, say, using a sharpie pen then that’s where the cut will be. Very precise. I’m very impressed with my new Classic Cutter. Thank you very much for offering it to the modeling community.
